Parish Life

Everyone knows that outreach is important, but nourishing bonds within the parish is equally valuable. The following ministries are opportunities for people of St. Timothy's to gather in fellowship and to sponsor gatherings for the congregation:

Women of St. Timothy's (WOST)

The Women of St. Timothy's, or WOST, is a branch of the Episcopal Church Women. Its objective is to promote the mission of the church in the home, parish, community and beyond with worship, prayer, study and gifts.

Every woman of the church is automatically a member of WOST and is welcome to attend any of its functions throughout the year.  There are opportunities for fellowship and learning at two luncheon and two dinner meetings each year.  WOST has also hosted an annual Women's  Retreat at St. Mary's Conference Center for the last five years. Approximately 20 to 25 women attend this retreat each year.

In addition to hosting opportunities for growth and fellowship, WOST provides opportunities to volunteer through outreach and in-reach ministries. WOST operates a thrift shop which provides funds for WOST ministries. Contributions of clean clothes, toys, books and small household items are resold by a team of dedicated volunteers.  The proceeds are given to local social service agencies and ministries, with a focus on those that serve the poor. WOST also provides two scholarships to the St. Timothy's preschool, and contributes to the East Tennessee ECW.  The women also sponsor the October birthday day tea at St. Barnabas Nursing Home and the annual Christmas luncheon for the Widow's Harvest Ministry.

WOST is operated by a board and various service committees, elected each year by the membership. The generous gifts of time and talent from these women ensure that WOST remains a vital part of the ministry of St. Timothy's.

Men of St. Timothy's (MOST)

The primary objective of Men of St. Timothy's (MOST) is fellowship. During past years, MOST has hosted entertaining dinner meetings, conducted spring and fall golf tournaments, including participation by the Bishop in the spring tournament; provided dinner for IHN families including inaugurating the new barbecue grill so generously donated by Dave Adair; grilled and co-hosted picnics with hotdogs and hamburgers for a parish dinners at Annual Meeting and Rally Day, and conducted the annual lawn sale as our primary fundraiser. MOST has inaugurated a Valentine's Brunch to honor the women of the church.

MOST also provided the funds for two new communion boxes for the Eucharistic Visitors. MOST supports the new landscaping effort, and is involved in service projects to assist the poor.

Supper Club

Supper Club is a monthly potluck dinner hosted at a church member's home. Supper club occurs on the last Friday of the month and is announced in church's e-blasts and the monthly newsletter.

Parish Life Committee

This committee plans parish picnics, Bishop's reception, Lenten dinners, Progressive Dinner, and special events.
